Finding Me: Project 52 | week 8 | delicate

I won’t lie. I struggled this week. The snow. The freezing temps. The kids not having school for days on end. Cabin fever has set in. So I almost didn’t even want to participate this week. But instead I forced myself outside when I saw sunshine peeking out one early morning. In my snow boots + jammies + bedhead + no make-up I went tromping around and found these leaves just dangling on and hanging on with all they’ve got. I’m not sure it counts as delicate in most people’s minds, but I see a delicate balance here and hope you can see it too.Dover New Philadelphia Ohio photographer 44663 | © Brandi Williamson Photography | www.brandiwilliamsonphotography.com | Project 52: delicate

Dover New Philadelphia OH Photographer | Project 52 | love

Another week has passed which means it’s once again time for our weekly Finding Me: Project 52 blog circle post!!!! This week’s theme is *love*. ❤ Of course, right? 😉 Surprisingly, this is the theme that stumped me. It finally hit me on Sunday morning after looking at the flowers my husband bought for the girls on what I wanted to do. I really am loving the outcome!!! And why not also include some photos of my 3 littlest loves that I took this week? Aren’t they so sweet and lovey? Don’t let them fool you… They were plotting something I’m sure… HA!

This is one of my favorite times of the day. We’re winding down. He snuggles with me. He still wants me to climb into bed with him and read his favorite bedtime books. I want to remember this forever. ❤Dover New Philadelphia Ohio photographer 44663 | iPhone photo | © Brandi Williamson Photography | www.brandiwilliamsonphotography.com | Project 52: Love Next in line for our blog circle is LeAnn Rehm Photography. Oh my word!!! This is a FUN theme!!! You’re for sure going to want to check out ALL of our blogs this week!!! 🙂

I really hadn’t messed around with this type of Photoshopping images so this took some playing and learning on my part. I love that it really pushed me out of my comfort zone!!

The first image I attempted was my oldest daughter, Emma, and her books. She LOVES to read so we wanted to document her in this stage. Her composite was fairly simple. I took a shot of the books stacked up and then I photographed her sitting on a stool and I combined the 2 with some behind the scenes Photoshop magic. 😉 She is so excited about her finished photo that she’s asked if I could print it as a poster for her bedroom. How fun!

First off, he’s 3 and he’s very much not a fan of my camera. He refused to wear the clothes I chose for him. And we ended up changing up the entire idea and instead went with whatever he decided to do. Isn’t that the typical life with a toddler? LOL I do love the end result though!! Don’t you? He giggles every time that he sees it too and says “Oh I’m small Liam! Look Mommy! That dolphin’s gonna gobble my fishie! Stay awayyyyyy shark! Oh no!” And then all of that is typically followed by “Let’s go! I want a bubble bath please!!!” Love this little boy and his fun imagination!!New Philadelphia Ohio childrens photographer 44663 | © Brandi Williamson Photography | www.brandiwilliamsonphotography.com | Project 52: ImaginationIzzy Grace’s chalkboard image was the last one we got around to finishing. She and I discussed what we wanted to do at the beginning of the week but things kept happening and we would put it off another day for one reason or another. (Kind of like the same reason I have yet to call the Preschool up again to set up another date for a tour for Liam?! OOPS!). Isabella’s photo was a lot of fun to execute!! I knew that I didn’t want a generic chalkboard stock image in the background. I wanted it to be HER drawing. So she set to work on that this morning. Then immediately following a studio session on Saturday morning, I told her we would photograph her “flying”. And of course we needed to add in her beloved Duffy Bear who goes everywhere else with her. It’s only natural he would go on a flying adventure through her chalkboard drawing wonderland too!!! 😛Dover Ohio 44622 New Philadelphia Ohio childrens photographer 44663 | © Brandi Williamson Photography | www.brandiwilliamsonphotography.com | Project 52: Imagination

Dover New Philadelphia OH Photographer | Project 52 | selfie!

week 5 | selfie

It arrived. The week I was dreading. This week’s Finding Me: Project 52 theme is “YOU: selfie”. Don’t get me wrong, I love cell phone selfies. I take selfies with my kids or husband (does that count?), selfies with coffee, selfies with sunshine, selfies with new hair color or a cute style and whatever other random selfie mood might take over. But to take a selfie with my big girl camera… AND post it to my blog for everyone to see?! That’s different for some reason. It just IS! Thoughts ran through my mind…. “Be careful with the angle! Don’t show your double chin!” “Should I put more make-up on?” “Um I’m still holding my coffee cup….” “What about those dark circles and my scars?! Maybe I should edit those out…”

In the end I left all of it. I didn’t add anymore make-up than what I normally wear on a typical day. I left my dark circles because they tell a story of my life right now. Yes I have sleepless nights. I work late. I have 3 kids. I still have nightmares of my past. I have nightmares of what my mind makes up and the “what if….” takes over. Sometimes I just want to sit with my husband on the couch and mindlessly stare at the TV late into the night. Then I wake up early to start the day and get the kids dressed, fed and out the door to school. I left my scars because they tell a story of my past and what has helped shape me into who I am today. Do I feel beautiful? No. Do I feel like I look how I want to look? Absolutely not. Am I okay with all of this? Yes. I am more than okay with it. I am happy. I am blessed. I am loved. And that is beautiful. That is me.

Don’t forget this is our Finding Me: Project 52 blog circle. Visit Sarah Jastre Photography and see her take on this week’s theme. Please click through all of our links and leave us some love by liking and commenting on our posts, especially this week as it turns out selfie week was a difficult one for ALL of us to go through with. In discussing this week’s theme with each-other, we laughed, we cringed, we lifted each-other up, we cried, we criticized our bodies and we boosted each-other’s confidence. Why is it that we can so easily see the beauty in someone else but not ourselves? We, as a society, need to work on this. Let’s begin today.

Dover New Philadelphia OH Photographer | project 52 | up close

week 4 | up close

This week’s theme was fun and allowed me to venture a bit out of typical portrait or lifestyle photography. I wracked my brain trying to come up with something super cool, but then I noticed how my plant looks with the afternoon sun coming in through the window. I kinda dig it (see what I did there?). 😛

Next up in this week’s Project 52 blog circle is Sonia who owns My Story Photography. Please click through the links until you get back to me! Week 3 | light

We haven’t had many sunny days lately with all of the cold and snow and ice so I jumped at the chance when I saw this gorgeous sunshine pouring in the window this week. My 3 old wasn’t exactly the perfect model I expected, but I like his take on the theme too. ❤

We’ve decided to turn our little project 52 into a blog circle too for fun and to help hold us accountable as the weeks go by. 🙂 Make sure you stop by Stacy Espinoza Photography next to view her take on this week’s theme. 🙂 After that, continue on through the circle until you get back to me! Week 2 | white

We’ve had a lot of cold weather and some snow to go with it. Perfect timing for this week’s theme!!!! So the first day of snow, I went out to shovel snow but realized I didn’t have any boots…. It’s not every day you grab your 10 year old daughter’s boots to go shovel…. and they FIT. She is now officially too old for my comfort. She’s wearing women’s shoes and some clothes too. Oh my!© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | whiteThe snow always looks so pretty and clean laying on top of plants and scenery. I’ve also been working on my composition this month in a workshop I am a part of this year. This month’s lesson is rule of thirds and general composition. The next 2 images follow the rule of thirds. 🙂 © Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | white© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | whiteAnd this one is actually from last year, but I immediately thought of it when I learned of this week’s theme. 🙂 Isn’t he a cutie? © Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | white© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 |white

Dover, New Philadelphia photographer | project 52 | shine + sparkle

Hello 2015!!! I’m so excited for what this year is going to bring to my life, personally and professionally. Or rather, what I will bring to 2015. 😉 One of those things is Project 52. I’m doing this with a group of photographer friends of mine. Our goals are to keep our creativity up, find ourselves through the camera and mostly to give us a reason to slow down and appreciate the otherwise small moments in our lives. I thought I would try to go one step further and blog them as well. My line of thinking is that it will help to keep me accountable. So here goes nothing….

Week 1 | shine + sparkle

We were a little slow in getting this rolling so we only  had 2 days this week to take the photo. And of course I totally zoned on the gorgeous sunny day we had on Friday and Saturday it was pouring rain. I just had to go with it. My neighbors must think I am a nut job. To get most of the photos I was laying on the ground in the rain with my 7 year old holding a baggie over my camera. LOL I’m sure it’s not the strangest thing I’ve ever done. 🙂© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | shine + sparkleOf course I may have gone a little overboard this week and I couldn’t make up my mind. 😛 So here are the other images I took as well! 🙂© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | shine + sparkle© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | shine + sparkle© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | shine + sparkle© Brandi Williamson Photography | project 52 | shine + sparkle
