hello baby newborn workshop | chicago

Ahhhh, the Hello Baby Newborn Workshop with Emily Lucarz Photography and EllPhotography (also find the new workshop page on Facebook now here). This seems like so long ago, but also feels like it just happened. In truth, it really only was a little over a month ago. 🙂 I *knew* both Emily & Erin from another super secret most awesome-sauce group on Facebook of which I cannot mention the name we are so exclusive (okay so we may not be all THAT exclusive and secret, but, we do consider ourselves pretty awesome ;)). Anyyyyyyyyway, since I knew them online, I knew it was going to be twice as much fun to be able to attend. So, again, I blabber. I wander. Let’s get back to the topic at hand, but hey, I wanted you to know the back story. I enjoy back stories. 😉

Once I was at the workshop in Chicago, with Erin & Emily and with all of the other totally awesome wonderful girls who attended (love them!), I was beyond excited. I learned a ton. A TON!!!! They taught about newborn posing & safety, studio lighting & natural lighting, beanbag & prop posing, lifestyle shooting, how to deal with not-so-sleepy newborns, how to prep the client and of course post processing. This was their first actual workshop together, and I believe they learned a lot too and I am looking forward to the next time they may come near enough to me that I can swing convincing my husband that I simply must go again to pick their brains even more and to see them in action again after they’ve gotten this and other workshops under their belts. They’ve truly got a great thing going for them and I think it’s just different enough to really stand out and put them a step ahead of some of the other workshops out there. 🙂

Now, let’s move on to what you’re really wanting to see, the babies. Here are some of my favorite shots from the weekend, and be warned, there are quite a few. But I just couldn’t make up my mind!!

And you know I’ve got a treasure trove of behind the scenes too… Here are some that are postable… You know, meaning nobody is making too goofy of a facial expression that they won’t be upset with me for sharing… 😉 hehe! *Oh and side note here… Let it be known that both Erin & Emily had just recently had babies not long before these photos were taken. 😛

There ya have it. I loved every second of it. It was fun. It was crazy. At moments it was pure insanity (in a good, people everywhere, babies everywhere, Ahhhhhhh! kind of way). I’m pretty sad I didn’t get someone to snag a photo of me with Emily & Erin (other than a cell phone pic on one of their phones…), but that’s just another excuse to HAVE to attend a future workshop of theirs again. 😉

Dover, New Philadelphia OH child photographer | liam is one … and enjoys his super hero smash cake!

I hope you guys aren’t sick of seeing my birthday boy just yet! 😉 Yesterday after his nap time he woke up in a great mood, and although I hadn’t fully planned on it, I decided it was a fantastic time to make use of his smash cake from Camelot Cakes. So, I set it all up, and then plopped him down. And MAN did I underestimate how quick he was to grab at the deliciousness that was set before him!!! 😛 LOL! As soon as we started the thought popped in my head of ‘why oh whyyyyyyy didn’t I just be patient and wait for my husband to get home from work so he could help me’, but noooooooo I wanted to get it done now. Typical me. Impatient and impulsive. Ha! Anyway, on to the smashing details. Kat (at Camelot) made his smash cake to match his birthday theme (super hero obviously). I absolutely loved it! And Liam did too!

Fun fact: The backdrop to this mini shoot was actually colored specially for this by all of the littlest guests at Liam’s birthday party! How stinkin’ fun is that?!

BTW, Liam’s fun super hero cape is made by SuperKid Capes and is very machine washable as we just found out. 😉

Dover, New Philadelphia OH photographer | my life | liam’s super hero 1st birthday bash

Yesterday I shared with you photos from Liam’s birth and his first week at home. It’s funny, it really feels like those memories REALLY only happened yesterday. Truth is, yesterday was Liam’s official 1st birthday and the day of his party. Sigh. They really do grow up too fast. Note to self: Don’t blink.

On to the party details… I must admit, this day was very much thanks to my addiction to Pinterest. Do you pin? Follow me here. I pin all kinds of goodies from personal fun stuff, DIY ideas and creations, kiddo crafts/games/learning experiences, yummo foods, workouts to burn off that yummy meal you just pinned, and also lots and lots and lots of photography inspiration including boards for what to wear guides. Just sayin’. 😉 I am going to try my best to remember and link you to all of the goodie inspiration from Liam’s super hero themed party at the bottom of this post. So be sure to scroll way down so you don’t miss out!

… bring on the little heroes!

And of course the CAKE by Camelot Cakes! It was, quite possibly, the coolest 1 year old’s birthday cake in the history of all birthday cakes. Just sayin’. 😉

Happy birthday to my sweet adorable baby boy! We love you!!

Dover, New Philadelphia OH photographer | my life | bittersweet, my baby is growing up

WOAH! Wasn’t I just pregnant yesterday? And now my baby is ONE!?!?! ONE!!!!! I’ll blog his birthday another day, but thought I would share pictures from his birth now as I sit here reminiscing. ❤

Just look at that look of wonder my Emma has on her face!! ❤ And little Izzy, well, she wasn’t so sure at first about this new baby brother of hers. 😉

My parents were tickled pink (or blue?) that they finally got a boy in the family! 🙂

As were all of the grandparents… Something about a new baby just brings on the gushy love-y faces all around… ❤

This is still one of my favorite pictures of all 3 of them together yet…simply because this was the first time Izzy showed any interest in him…at all. 😉 After that moment though, she decided she was in love. Adorable.

And here is the one and only newborn shot I got of my baby boy. Nobody warned me that as a photographer Momma, I would never be able to get too many shots of him since every time I got near him, he just wanted to eat. 🙂

Dover, New Philadelphia OH child photographer | jaxon is 3!

I love my nephew! Okay, so he isn’t technically my nephew. But my cousin Mandi is as close to a sister as anyone so you say po-tay-to, I say pa-taw-to. 😉 Jaxon was also one of my ‘practice’ newborns 3 years ago. It’s amazing to see how much I have grown right along as a photographer as he has grown into such a darling, funny, smart and well-mannered little person!

Happy birthday Jaxon!!! I hope your party was awesome!!!!

Dover, New Philadelphia OH wedding photographer | samantha & james

First off, I just want to say, this is a long post! I can’t help it, all of the images told a part of the story that made up their day and I couldn’t not share!! Samantha & James’s wedding took place at a gorgeous (seriously, GORGEOUS) location at Country Cottage & Garden. Follow them on FB here. Eric and his staff have done a fabulous job at updating the grounds here and any Bride should consider herself blessed to have her wedding take place here! I, myself, am very excited for many more weddings being shot at the cottage the remainder of this year and also into 2013. Yay! Alright, back to Sam & James. 🙂 They were such a pleasure to work with that the day felt more like hanging out with friends than working (love it when that happens!). They had the most adorable little ring bearer (I know I say that a lot but seriously!). And their flower girl is James’s daughter and wow-ee is she quite the little spitfire! 😀 And don’t get me started on Samantha’s choice of flowers. Ohhhhh the flowers. And the music! Music was by DJ Don at Mobile Jams Entertainment (I’m quite sure if you follow me on FB you’ve already heard me boast of their talents). And the rings! And the gown! (Sam’s wedding gown was purchased locally at Lavender Bridal Salon)… And the decorations… And the food… I could go on and on… Or you could just browse through their photos laying out the day. 😉
